I remember picking up Estee Lauder’s Nutritious skincare about 2 years back when the annual haze caused by illegal forest fires in Indonesia and Malaysia were blown over to Singapore, and reached a record high that way surpassed the unhealthy levels of pollution [find out more here]. Back then, I found the Nutritious line to be wonderful at protecting my skin from the stressful pollution. And it is quite a happy coincidence that I am now reviewing the newly launched Estee Lauder Nutritious Vitality8 collection, as it seems the haze is returning with a vengeance.
Estee Lauder’s Nutritious line is designed to help skin neutralize free radicals, battle environmental aggressors, and infuse skin with essential nutrients to restore healthy radiance. The key ingredient is Pomegranate extract, which is loaded with antioxidants that protects the skin from free radical damage and pre-mature aging. It is also rich in fatty acids, and Vitamins C, B6 and E.
The new Vitality8 collection uses a new intensified Pomegranate Complex derived from a blend of 8 ingredients – Pomegranate, Soapberry, Mangosteen, Berry extract, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Anti-oxidant booster, and Mineral Water. This new Pomegranate Complex provides double the anti-oxidant power of the previous Pomegranate Nectar; and an even stronger dosage of essential vitamins and minerals to help improve hydration, maintain elasticity and prevent skin breakdown. Soapberry also contains anti-inflammation benefits to calm and soothe skin, and boost recovery.
The Estee Lauder Nutritious Vitality8 collection consists of 4 items, a couple of them are really innovative new products that I’ve never experienced before.
Estee Lauder Nutritious Vitality8 Radiant Overnight Detox Concentrate [SGD116 for 30ml] is an intensive treatment to purify skin and improve the texture of skin over a 28-day cycle. It is designed to be used at night, although I’ve used it in the day time too and did not see the harm in adding a good dose of antioxidants to my morning routine.
The pump bottle dispenses enough product in a single pump to cover my face and neck. It is a milky fluid that feels quite moisturizing on its own. Although still fairly lightweight, it is sufficiently present that I don’t feel the need to layer on too many other products with it.
Estee Lauder recommends using the Radiant Overnight Detox Concentrate for 28 consecutive nights or at the beginning of every new season to help skin renew. When I first started using this, I started seeing tiny bumps appear under my the surface of my skin and got worried. However, as I continued using it, I found my skin becoming smoother than ever before! The strange thing is that as I continued using it past the recommended 28 nights, my skin started breaking out again. I don’t really understand my skin’s responses over the course of use, so I would recommend you to follow the prescribed usage.
Estee Lauder Nutritious Vitality8 Radiant Dual-Phase Emulsion [SGD92 for 100ml] is an innovative new hydrating toner that comes in a dual-phase formula. In addition to the Pomegranate Complex, it is formulated with ginseng to recharge skin with vital energy. To use, give the bottle a good shake before pouring onto a cotton pad, and then sweep over the entire face.
I found this Radiant Dual-Phase Emulsion to layer particularly well with the Radiant Overnight Detox Concentrate or a lightweight moisturizer for daytimes (although the latter is meant to be used at night only). Those with oilier skin may find the Emulsion sufficiently moisturizing on its own, and skip another step entirely. Those with dry skin though should supplement with one of the following moisturisers from the collection.
Estee Lauder Nutritious Vitality8 Radiant Moisture Creme [SGD92 for 50ml] is a cream moisturizer that feels very nourishing. It has a silky texture that feels very comforting on my skin. However, even on my dry skin, this felt too rich for day use. For evenings though, it is perfect!
Estee Lauder Nutritious Vitality8 Radiant Overnight Creme/Mask [SGD106 for 50ml] is another innovative product from this collection. It is a silky cream moisturiser that feels nourishing on my skin without being too oily. It may be used as a regular evening moisturizer, or applied generously and left on as an overnight hydrating mask! With sleeping masks growing increasingly popular, this 2-in-1 product is a good way to restore skin’s moisture balance and replenish nutrients. In terms of texture, I found it to be similar to the Radiant Moisture Creme, and prefer this for evenings as my skin looks plumper and more rested the next morning. I’ve also enjoyed slathering this on my neck, and wake up to a softer and smoother neck!
Overall, the Nutritious Vitality8 Collection is another lovely addition to Estee Lauder’s skincare offerings. The Radiant Overnight Detox Concentrate took some getting used to, but improved the texture of my skin to the best it has ever been after a few uses. Those with dry skin will appreciate the nourishing Radiant Dual-Phase Emulsion and the Radiant Moisture Creme. And the Radiant Overnight Creme/Mask is a wonderful product to sleep in.
