Bon weekend, my dears! I’m a little bit out of rhythm this week, I wanted to get a lot more reviews out, but then I got caught up with work and took a little bit of time out for myself. And by the time I sat down today, I realized I didn’t have the right pictures for the post that I had planned. So instead, in that spirit of pampering ourselves, I thought I would share with you this decadent bottle from La Prairie…. the new Cellular Radiance Perfecting Fluid Pure Gold!
Gold has always been a topic of controversy when it comes to skincare. Much revered in ancient cultures, but with today’s prices, it is always questionable if it is worth investing in when there are other more proven and better-researched ingredients around. For those of us who can afford to spare no expenses for the sake of beauty, La Prairie offers unparralled decadence merged with cutting-edge science.
La Prairie’s Cellular Radiance Perfecting Fluid Pure Gold is created using their advanced Gold-Science Platform. It fuses a proprietary golden peptide that helps to boost collagen in the skin, with pure gold and golden reflecting agents to render skin with a flattering golden glow. Collagen not only provides firmness, density and elasticity to skin; it also adds luminosity to skin, making that glow-from-within realisable.
“Enter the world of radiance with Cellular Radiance Perfecting Fluide Pure Gold. There is a magic time when a fleeting light casts a spell on everything it touches. It starts the moment the sun begins to rise, and just before it sets. Shadows lengthened, colors are enhanced, the earth is in soft focus. Warm light bathes the skin in breathtaking beauty. It is an elusive moment revered by artists that stirs something deep inside us, which feels unlike anything else in the world. Some call it the Golden Hour. We call it Radiance.”
With its latest Cellular Radiance Perfecting Fluid Pure Gold, La Prairie has not only created another anti-aging and radiance-boosting moisturizer. Instead, this is of those skincare-makeup hybrids, offering much more than just skin benefits, but also helps to achieve that perfect flawless look.
The presence of silicones is noticeable from the ingredient list, which is not unusual in skincare generally, but the relative high weightage does contribute to that silky-smooth, pore-blurring effect. On the other hand, Niacinamide comes up 3rd in the list, which is one of the highest concentrations I’ve ever seen in any skincare product, and significant because it is a potent cell-communicating ingredient. Niacinamide can improve skin’s elasticity, dramatically enhance its barrier function, help erase discolorations, and revive skin’s healthy tone and texture.
Also, La Prairie has included its exclusive Golden Lotus Japonicus Blend to help promote youthful looks and an even complexion. The Lotus Japonicus is rich in bioactive molecules, and is able to lighten dark spots and even out skin tone. A blend of Swiss Cress Sprout Extract and Soy Isoflavones further reduces the pigmentation of age spots to achieve an overall look of brighter, clearer, more perfected skin.
Other notable ingredients include Nicotiana Sylvestris Cultured Stem Cell Extract, which provides anti-wrinkle, antioxidant, anti- aging, energizing benefits to the skin. Raspberry Extract derived from Raspberry cultured stem cells provides strong anti-irritation, antioxidant and DNA- protecting benefits. And of course, at the heart of every La Prairie invention is the exclusive Cellular Complex. This is a proprietary skin cocktail consisting of glycoproteins, Ginseng Root and Horsetail Extracts that revitalizes and energizes skin cells, fights wrinkles and promotes healing.
La Prairie Cellular Radiance Perfecting Fluid Pure Gold comes in an exquisite golden bottle with a shiny silver cap and pump dispenser. It has a gel-cream texture that melts into a fluid once applied to skin. The most notable effect for me, was an instant tautness – not in the astringent-tight way, but an overall firming and toning up. It is immediately absorbed into the skin, and does not leave any trace or texture on the surface at all. The only sign that it has been applied, is a very fine, soft-focus finish to the skin.
A couple of days ago, I had introduced La Mer The Perfecting Treatment [read here] which I had described as a decadent makeup primer with skin-loving ingredients. In contrast, La Prairie Cellular Radiance Perfecting Fluid Pure Gold is much more of a skincare product in my mind, undoubtedly an exceedingly luxurious one, with complexion-enhancing benefits. On drier skin types like mine, La Prairie Cellular Radiance Perfecting Fluid Pure Gold is sufficient on its own (although I usually wear at least 1 or more serums) for the day. At night though, I like to layer it with another moisturizer or facial oil for a more intense treatment.
