I always get insanely excited when I get to check out new La Mer releases, and this month there are not just 1 but 2 new products to discover! It feels a little bit back to basics perhaps, but I think we all need a bit of #skincare recharge before moving into the fall and winter seasons. Expanding on its significant facial cleansing range of products, La Mer now introduces the La Mer Cleansing Micellar Water. And the brand’s beloved range of moisturizers is seeing a reformulation… with the new La Mer Moisturizing Soft Lotion.
La Mer Cleansing Micellar Water is no ordinary cleanser, it is inspired by La Mer’s legacy with all the wonderful goodness of the sea. By combining the positively and negatively charged Deconstructed Waters with the brand’s famed Miracle Broth, the Cleansing Micellar Water helps to keep skin moisturized and radiant. It is designed to lift and sweep away the day’s grime, makeup and excess sebum trapped within the skin in a soap-free and rinse-free way. With continued use, the negatively charged water molecules help to deliver restorative sea minerals and actives deeper into skin’s surface, where they can work more effectively.
To use, first saturate cotton pads with La Mer Cleansing Micellar Water, and then gently sweep it across the skin. I like to first leave it over the eyes for a minute to dissolve my eye makeup, and then slowly wipe off. After having tried so many different micellar waters, I was most impressed by La Mer’s ability to swiftly remove my waterproof mascara and layers of eye makeup! Also, I often find micellar waters to sting my sensitive skin as it works, but this one from La Mer is so gentle it actually feels quite soothing, and the light crisp scent is so refreshing!
When I first started using La Mer, I experimented with various textures.. back then there were only the original La Creme and The Moisturizing Lotion. So naturally, I would use La Creme at night and The Moisturizing Lotion in the day. When I moved back to humid Singapore, I suddenly found The Moisturizing Lotion too rich for our hot climate, and was grateful when La Mer launched The Moisturizing Gel Cream. With the latest reformulation, I was excited to find the new La Mer The Moisturizing Soft Lotion to be lighter than before so it works beautifully in the day as well! The brand’s famed Miracle Broth and Lime Tea Concentrate have been re-invented with micro-technology to be able to penetrate deeper into the skin, to help heal dryness, boost cellular renewal and soften signs of ageing.
I addition to making the key ingredients smaller, they are also encapsulated in a fresh and deeply hydrating gel for a refreshing feel upon the skin. As you can see from the comparison swatch above, the new Moisturizing Soft Lotion (bottom swatch) spreads out more smoothly and takes on a translucency that is reflective of its ultra-fine texture. In comparison, its predecessor The Moisturizing Lotion is thicker and does not spread out quite as much even when the same amount of product was used.
Unfortunately I do not have the ingredient list, but according to the press information provided, The Moisturizing Soft Lotion contains lots of nutrients including vitamins C, E, and B12 and oils of citrus, eucalyptus and alfalfa to sooth away sensitivities and irritations. I have been using this every morning for the past month and I am hooked. Although I have been battling a strange case of adult acne (double insult since my skin is still dehydrated), I found this La Mer The Moisturizing Soft Lotion to keep my skin well hydrated throughout a long day, but without causing my skin to oil up nor melt my makeup off.
