I am finally concluding my coverage of skin hydrating products!  Today’s post is a sort of psychological wrapper for me because it features the earliest product that I acquired before making up my mind to create a series, and the most recent acquisition which is technically not marketed for dry skin but works like a charm.  This pairing works best for those of you who have acne-prone skin like me, but whose skin is also dehydrated and hence cannot accommodate overly stripping products.  The balance is delicate, and Tatcha does it so elegantly with its The Deep Cleanse and Water Cream.

Tatcha The Deep Cleanse & The Water Cream

One of the most important things in caring for your acne-prone skin is to exfoliate regularly and keep your skin clean to prevent the pores from getting clogged.  Many of the scrubs and medicated cleansers that are available in the market are too harsh for my sensitive and dehydrated skin, so I find myself rotating my cleansers and only scrubbing 1-2 times weekly.  However that all changed when I tried Tatcha The Deep Cleanse.

This is a oil-free gel cleanser that contains Japanese Luffa fruit fibers that gently exfoliates without any sharp aggravating edges/corners.  It lathers into a gentle creamy foam when mixed with water, and contains Japanese Wild Rose that tightens pores and smoothens skin texture.  Silk amino acids keep skin hydrated and soft, Okinawa mozuku algae helps skin retain water, and akita rice nourishes skin.  I love the fresh and clean sensation this leaves my skin with, and yet perfectly comfortable without stripping my skin or aggravating sensitive patches.  It is such an incredible pleasure to use that I find myself automatically reaching for this every morning even though I have 4 different cleansers in my bathroom!  The only tiny gripe I have is that the product dispenses by squeezing the bottle, and I often end up with far more than I really need.

Tatcha The Water Cream

The perfect accompaniment after cleansing is The Water Cream.  This is an oil-free gel-moisturizer that is incredibly lightweight and feels silky on the skin.  It is the more intense sibling of The Pore Perfecting Water Gel Moisturizer [reviewed here].  Japanese Wild Rose tightens pores and smoothes skin texture, and Tatcha’s proprietary Hadasei-3 complex (comprising of green tea, Japanese rice & algae) nourishes and hydrates skin.  I like that it has some oil-controlling properties as well, and I found that it keeps my skin perfectly moisturized throughout the day whilst keeping excess shine away from my t-zone.  There is a touch of 23-karat gold incorporated into the formula, you can’t see it, but it does leave skin with a very very subtle glow… beautiful!

Both The Deep Cleanse and The Water Cream are marketed for normal to oily skin types, which makes them sort of “outliers” in this mini-series.  Regardless, I found The Water Cream to be a powerful hydrating moisturizer, and the light non-sticky texture makes it a real pleasure to use.  It is atypical to find a scrub in hydrating lines, and I believe skincare products should serve multiple purposes.

I hope you have enjoyed this series of posts.  If you have missed out the previous entries, please head over here to catch up!  If any of the products have really jumped out at you, or you have tried any of them, please leave me a comment below and let me know your experiences!
