Last year, Origins introduced a novel new range of products targeting matured skin that has lapsed into a sleeping state of senescence and is no longer functioning optimally.  And now, to complement the Three Part Harmony range (first introduced here), Origins has added 2 new products – a luxurious Foaming Cream-to-Oil Cleanser and a new Soft Cream.  I actually took both of them with me on my 2-week long trip to Germany last January in the midst of winter, and have also tested them again back home in tropical Singapore… and I’d love to share them with you today!

Origins Three Part Harmony

During my time in freezing Germany, I was suffering from wind-bitten skin which was chapped and dried out.  I had a couple of different cleansers with me, but the one that I found myself reaching out the most for was this Origins Three Part Harmony Foaming Cream-to-Oil Cleanser.

The name sounds very exotic, but in truth it is a regular cream cleanser that lathers up when mixed with water.  The foam is sufficient though not overly exuberant, so it cleanses well and is reassuring for those of us used to foaming cleansers; but does not dry out nor strip off the last bits of moisture from dehydrated skin.

The foam originates from coconut-based ingredients rather than the more commonly found but harsh SLS.  This Cream-to-Oil Cleanser contains Tazetta Lily Bulb extract that is the signature of this Three Part Harmony range, and it has the ability to slow the proliferation of senescent cells and melanin, as well as improve skin’s firmness and elasticity.  In addition, White Myrtle Extract has purifying, tightening and firming properties.  An essential oil blend of orange, clove, geranium, lavender, cananga, rose, violet and jasmine lends a soft beautiful fragrance that makes this a truly luxurious experience!

Since returning from Germany, my skin has been somewhat volatile lately, and has managed to become an insulting mix of extreme dryness from all the flying and climate changes, and breaking out uncontrollably on my chin and forehead.  And with all these extremities come an overly sensitised and easily irritated state.  My regular prescribed acne wash started to sting my skin and left it feeling parched.  Yet on the other hand, other gentler cream / balm cleansers left my skin feeling oily and fuelled my acne.  It was only after I returned to this Origins Three Part Harmony Foaming Cream-to-Oil Cleanser that my skin improved.  It balances out both my dry cheeks and acne-prone chin and forehead.  I love how it feels so nourishing when applied to my skin, lathers up to emit that gorgeous scent, and then rinses away to leave my skin feeling well cleansed without tightness nor greasiness.

Origins Three Part Harmony Soft Cream

For those who found the previous moisturizer from the range too heavy, Origins now introduces the Three Part Harmony Soft Cream.  This is a lighter, whipped texture, containing the same skin-loving ingredients as the previous Nourishing Cream (reviewed here).  Using a unique micro-oil droplet technology, it provides intense hydration and nourishment to restore skin’s vitality and resilience, whilst maintaining a lighter texture.

I’m not usually a big fan of soft creams in general, preferring to go with lighter lotions or gels instead for hot, humid Singapore; and regular night creams when I go to bed.  When I was right in the mid-of-winter, I found this Soft Cream to be insufficient.  Back home with my skin in a state of 2 extremities, this is still too heavy and rich.  Nonetheless, as we head into spring weather in the north, this may be one to check out.

Both Origins Three Part Harmony Foaming Cream-to-Oil Cleanser and Soft Cream are already out in stores.  They retail for SGD66 (150ml) and SGD123 (50ml) respectively.
